Bando Mitsugoro III as Kampei in the 47 Ronin, 1822

Comments - Interesting kabuki triple portrait featuring roles from the classic 47 ronin drama "Kanadehon Chushingura." At upper left, Bando Mitsugoro II appears as Hayano Kampei, dressed for hunting with a straw raincoat and hat hanging from the gun resting over his shoulder. He sneers as he looks down at the man kneeling below, who scowls angrily as he pushes up the sleeve of his red under robe. An interesting design with expressive figures. Kuniyasu's prints are rarely seen in the market.

Artist - Kuniyasu (1794 - 1832)

Image Size - 15 1/4" x 10 1/2"

Condition - This print with excellent detail as shown. Horizontal centerfold. A few small holes, repaired. Slight soiling and creasing, a few stains, slight rubbing at edges. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
