Comments - Handsome scene of the Three Hundred Year Festival at Toshogu Shrine, with lion dancers gathered in front of the entrance gate. Three women are dressed as men wearing gray and purple print kimono over red robes, tucked into plaid pants, their hair pulled back into topknots. Behind them, the heads of two lion costumes can be seen, flanked by men wearing short blue jackets over black undergarments and black pants. The crowd assembled below includes two young men in informal cotton kimono and Western straw hats. Beautifully colored and detailed, including touches of burnishing.
