Kisegawa of the Matsubaya

Series; Beauties of the Yoshiwara as Six Floral Immortals

Kisegawa of the Matsubaya - Lovely image of the courtesan Kisegawa of the Matsubaya unrolling a scroll with a scene from the "Tale of Genji." She looks down with her mouth slightly open, pulling up the edge of her outer robe, which features a delicate feathery motif. Another scroll lies partially wrapped in cloth on the floor nearby. Nicely detailed with embossing in the white kimono collar and the ends of the scrolls. Rarely seen in reprint.

Artist - Eishi (1756 - 1829)

Image Size - 14 1/2" x 10 1/8"

Condition - This print with excellent color and detail as shown. Slight toning, a few small spots and creases. Please see photos for details. Good overall.
